Funding
We support and fund both projects and capacity building initiatives for Latin American-based organizations working on digital rights. Our confirmed funding budget for the 2019-2021 period is USD 1,500,000; however, the fund continues to attract new capital.
WHAT WE FUND
We are seeking to support projects with the aim of advancing digital rights through policy advocacy, public campaigns, applied research and litigation.
Priority Themes:
- Freedom of expression
- Privacy
- Access to knowledge
HOW OUR FUNDING WORKS
Selected applicants will receive financial support in amounts up to USD 75,000, for an average period of 12 to 18 months. Additionally, we offer specialized capacity-building consultancies relevant to selected projects.
Selection process
We will do two to three open calls between 2019 and 2021, which will be advertised through our website and social media accounts. Our Steering Committee, which is made up of representatives from Fundación Avina, Luminate and Open Society Foundations, will review the applications from each open call, before they are shared with the Advisory Council for review. Finalists for each open call will be chosen based on the Advisory Council’s feedback, Indela’s priorities and budget considerations. Outside of the open calls, we may solicit targeted applications to respond to evolving priority areas and needs.

The second call closed on April 30, 2020.
